Infectious Disease: Types, Causes & Treatments

introduction:

The word ‘infectious’ refers to the introduction of a virus or other microorganism into a host organism that can cause disease. It is an infection or an outbreak of viral disease transmitted from one person to another. The most common diseases are bacteria, fungi, and parasites (including nematodes).

Infectious diseases are the second-leading cause of death in the world. In 2014, 6 out of 10 people died due to infectious diseases and 5 out of 10 died due to communicable illnesses like TB. As such it is crucial to take proper precautions against catching any disease or illness. Preventing infections is better than eliminating them but if left unchecked it could be fatal. Some illnesses are curable while others need treatment.

Signs And Symptoms Of An Infectious Disease:

Common Signs And Symptoms

The signs and symptoms of an infectious disease depend on the type of infection and the severity of the symptoms. Bacterial diseases have some common symptoms such as high fever, headache, cough, muscle pain, and redness of palms or soles of feet. You may also experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and bleeding from anywhere in your body which could be blood or pus. This shows you may have an infection that has caused some form of inflammation and as you get worse, your condition gets more severe.

Fungal infections generally affect your scalp because they like to enter through skin pores and this is why they normally infect all parts of the body including your nails, hair, and scalp. They usually thrive in warm places where humidity helps them spread. Fungi tend to kill their hosts when the temperature drops below freezing point so you should avoid cool areas or be careful with what you touch and wear gloves. Also, check whether your nail polish is toxic to fungus if it has been exposed too close to your scalp. Many times, these infections spread quickly by using contaminated food as well. These foods are known to harbor bacteria causing E.coli along with fungi including Candida Albicans (which cause yeast infections) and Yeast Cephalitis.

Common Symptoms Of Viral Diseases:

Many viruses can cause serious health problems if not treated properly. Here are a few examples of common ones you may face: Tuberculosis (TB), cholera, yellow fever, malaria, polio, and diphtheria. If you think you may catch any of these infections let an infected person know. Getting tested when symptomatic is important because sometimes even though someone does not have any symptoms he/she may still carry harmful bacteria that could make you sick. Even if you do not show symptoms, you could test positive for anything.

Different Types Of Inflammation:

What type of inflammation it depends on the type and location of the infection. Depending on the kind of inflammation that can lead to different symptoms, the main two possible types are Acute (short-term) inflammatory response and Chronic (long-term). There are also different kinds of inflammatory cells (neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes) that play various roles in an infection. When your immune system is unable to fight off the infection, it attacks itself, resulting in painful inflammation of the affected area. A chronic infection lasts for weeks and months and can become severely debilitating and lead to death.

Treatment For Both Chances Of An Organism Infection / Pneumonia:

For Pneumonia you can treat it with antibiotics but, if this fails it will require oxygen therapy. Also, don’t forget to start treating an attack with antibiotics early. Cholera treatment should include bile acid supplements and fluids to keep you hydrated and give your throat some relief. Remember that pneumonia is very contagious so isolate yourself from family or friends who might be infected. Get vaccinated when you can.
